Asbury Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) met February 6–8, 2025, and reaffirmed the accreditation of the following degree programs housed in the School of Counseling: Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling. The accreditation cycle for these programs runs through March 31, 2033.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Board of Directors of CACREP for recognizing the excellence and professionalism of these two programs within the School of Counseling at Asbury Seminary,” says Dr. Jacqueline Smith, Dean and Chair of the School of Counseling. “Since CACREP accreditation is a standard for licensure as a professional counselor in many states, our graduates can pursue licensure with confidence that our program has provided them with the highest quality of education and preparation for their field.”
CACREP’s vision is “to provide leadership and to promote excellence in professional preparation through the accreditation of counseling and related education programs.” They promote professional competencies, develop standards, encourage excellent program development, and accredit professional counseling programs.
