Job Description for Pastor of Cornerstone Community Protestant Church
Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Pastor for an independent, non-denominational church committed to biblical faith, relational discipleship, and community outreach. The Pastor will lead spiritual direction, preaching, pastoral care, leadership development, and day-to-day ministry operations, partnering with lay leaders and volunteers to grow the congregation and serve the local community.

Required Qualifications

LEAD PASTOR OF THE SARDIS CHAPEL CHURCH (PULASKI COUNTY, KY)

Job Summary
The Director of Family Ministries will provide visionary leadership, strategic direction and hands-on oversight for ministries serving children (nursery-elementary), youth (middle & high school) and family programs. The Director will aspire to enable, encourage, and equip the next generation to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement family, children, and youth programming and curriculum that will stimulate Christian growth and enhance relationships with God, peers, and families.
- Develop and lead a team of volunteer leaders in growing a healthy, relational, and outward-focused children, youth, and family ministry. “The goal is to lead our leaders.”

FULL-TIME DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES AND MISSIONS COORDINATOR AT ELIZABETH LEE METHODIST CHURCH (CHICKAMAUGA, GA)
General Summary:
The Director of Children’s Ministries (30 hours) and Missions Coordinator (10 hours) is responsible for al children’s programs (from birth-5th grade) of the church as serving as a staff liasion for the missions/outreach ministries of the church. As Director of Children’s Ministries, this position will work with children the pastor, parents, volunteers, and church staff, to plan, coordinate, and lead the children’s activities throughout at the year. As Missions Coordinator, this position will work with and have a presence at all missions and outreach ministries of the church, serving to assist volunteer leaders to ensure ministries flourish and volunteers are supported.
Job Qualifications
- Committed follower of Jesus who feels a call by God into Children’s ministry
- A love for children and a passion for encouraging children and their families to grow in faith as Jesus’ disciples
- Experience in working with children through church-based children’s ministry, teaching/education in a school setting, or a similar field is preferred
- A passion for evangelism and missions, specifically within the local community
- Strong organizational and leadership skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Overall
- Work 40 hours per week
- Recruit and manage online background checks. Submit names and results to the church office for the file.
- Attend monthly Church Council meetings, lead Children’s Council meetings, serve as Staff Liaision for the Missions Committee, serve on the Strategic Planning Committee, and attend other business meetings of the church as needed.
- Be present for Sunday morning worship at both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. Presence in worship is important.
- Perform other duties as requested by the pastor and/or Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
Director of Children’s Ministries (30 hours)
- In coordination with the pastor, the Church Council and other staff, set the direction for all church children’s programs from birth through 5th grade. Lead the Children’s Council to plan and carry out Children’s Ministry programming and events.
- Learn the names of the children, welcome all of them, and form a relationship with them and their parents. Keep an updated file of children’s and parents’ names and contact information.
- Provide leadership to and recruit and train volunteers for Sunday evening Kid’s Club. Design programming, scheduling, select/order curriculum, provide lesson plans and supplies to volunteers, etc. Ensure child check-in, check-out system is used.
- Provide leadership to and recruit and train volunteers for 10:00 a.m. Sunday School. Lead (or have a volunteer lead) kids from The Well to the Education Building. Ensure kids get check in al the Well or in the Education Building. Leadership responsibilities for Sunday School are similar to Kid’s Club as mentioned above.
- Oversee the Ministry Safe policy and ensure it is followed. Provide training so that volunteers understand and follow policy.
- With volunteer assistance, provide leadership to VBS including choosing curriculum, identifying and training volunteers, designing the schedule, conducting registration, overseeing sign-ins/sign-outs, etc.
- Plan and lead the 4th and 5th grade retreat to Camp Lookout. This includes choosing curriculum, identifying and resourcing volunteers to lead small groups, handling sign-ups, etc.
- Conduct fund-raisers as necessary. To this point, an annual Valentine’s Variety Show has taken place that has raised $1,500 or so to offset the cost of the kids retreat.
- Plan and schedule occasional special events for the kids including, but no limited to, the Easter Egg Hunt, summer activities, Back to School Bash, Fall Festival, Christmas Party, etc.
- Plan and coordinate a summer “mission trip” to be held locally for the children of the church. This local mission trip could include light work to be done at the homes of shut-ins, visits to homeless shelters in Chattanooga, supporting the Food Pantry or Recovery Chickamauga, etc.
- Supervise Nursery Director and nursery staff.
- Purchase and prepare Bibles for presentation to third graders each August.
- Coordinate with the Youth Director to align programs through the church ministry.
- Coordinate with the Ministry Assistant and/or pastor to develop publicity for children’s activities through the newsletter, bulletin, website, mailings, graphics, etc. Provide materials to the church office on time.
- Attend training and workshops for personal spiritual growth and to stay informed on the most effective ways to implement children’s ministry.
- Be responsible for use of the children’s program budget. In consultation with the Children’s Council and Finance Committee, submit budget requests for the following year. Attain necessary purchase orders beforehand and submit receipts (with 2 signatures) to treasurer promptly after purchase.
Missions Coordinator (10 hours)
- Support the volunteer leadership of our various mission ministries to ensure they flourish and volunteer burdens are lifted to the extent possible. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Food Pantry: There are no identified needs at this time, but needs could arise over time.
- 5th Quarter: Assist with volunteer recruitment and training (food service, yard games, etc.) and assist in identifying and scheduling music groups to play.
- Recovery Chickamauge: Have a familiarity with each volunteer role and step in as needed (such as assisting with scheduling volunteers, making food purchases, ensuring materials are on hand such as chips, etc.)
- LOL: Beginning in Summer 2027, serve as Co-Director of LOL alongside existing Co-Directors. Beginning Summer 2028, step in as ministry Director with support from existing volunteer team.
- Liberia missions: There are no identified needs at this time, but needs could arise over time.
- Be present at LOL, 5th Quarter, and regularly in the Food Pantry and at Recovery Chickamauga.
- Recruit volunteers as needed for all missions-related ministry. Currently we have a healthy roster of volunteers, but ongoing volunteer recruiting is always necessary to ensure new volunteers replace ones who can no longer volunteer.
- Coordinate outreach and evangelism ministries such as giving out watermelon at 4th of July fireworks, building relationships in the community, and integrating new people in the life of the church.
- Serve as Staff Liaision on the Missions Committee.
Vacation, Sick Days, and Holidays:
- Vacation – for the first three years of service employee is eligible for two weeks (to include two Sundays) of vacation. After three years of service, employee is eligible for three work weeks (to include three Sundays) of vacation. Employee may not cary over vacation days. All vacation days should be coordinated in advance with the church secretary and the pastor, and a suitable replacement should be found.
- Sick Days – one work week (to include one Sunday) per year. Employee may not carry over sick days. All sick days should be coordinated in advance with the church secretary and the pastor, and a suitable replacement should be found.
- Holidays – no applicable
- An “Out of Office” form is to be filled out for any scheduled absences.
Compensation:
Compensation pack is reviewed annually by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and recommended to the Finance Committee for approval.
