Alumni Resources

January 31, 2023

Greetings from Library, Information, and Technology Services’ B.L. Fisher Library! We always hear wonderful things about what you are doing around the world. The B.L. Fisher Library continues to license a certain number of resources for alumni and seeks to purchase more alumni-accessible resources whenever possible. We offer our graduates access to JSTOR, ATLA Religion Database, our selection of SAGE Journals, Project MUSE, Bloomsbury Collection, and our local library. Accessing the online resources requires your personal Seminary login just like going to the Student Portal or Asbury Connect. There are two exceptions to this: ePlace and ATLA Religion Database. ePlace is completely open access and does not require a login. ATLA Religion Database requires a special password from the Help Desk.

To find your Alumni resources, go to https://guides.asburyseminary.edu/alumni, and as you navigate that page, you will see several resources available to you including ePlace, JSTOR, ATLA Religion Database, SAGE Journals, Project MUSE, Bloomsbury Collection, and your own B.L. Fisher Library. Some of these resources, like JSTOR, SAGE Journals, and Bloomsbury Collection have only what we have purchased from these systems and not the entirety of their collections.

You can also check out print books from the library. If you’re in Wilmore, drop on by and we can update your library account with your contact information, and you can get books on a 4-week checkout period. They can be renewed twice. If you can’t make it to campus, you can use our Library Loan service to request that books be sent to you via the United States Postal Service (we cannot send them internationally, and you’ll have to send them back). The “Get materials from our library” section (left-hand navigation area) has information regarding our loan policies and how to use Library Loan.

Feel free to contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@asburyseminary.edu or phone: 859.858.2100) if you have any questions or would like to meet with a librarian.

Here’s a little more information about some of the available resources:
  • JSTOR – access to a subset of publications  (JSTOR includes full-text journal articles in fields such as economics, history, Asian studies, business, education, archaeology, classics, and African, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Slavic studies.)
  • SAGE Journals – access to a subset of publications
  • Project MUSE – access to a subset of publications including the Hemeneia Commentary series
  • Bloomsbury Collections – access to a subset of publications including the Internation Critical Commentary series

I am an alumnus. I read on this page that I can access online resources (“Accessing the online resources requires your personal Seminary login just like going to the Student Portal or Asbury Connect.”)

Now that my Asbury student email is no longer valid, how do I login in order to access the online resources?

Hello! Yes, if you just send an email to alumni@asburyseminary.edu, we will be able to help you recover your account!
